On-duty conductor assaulted in bus
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: An unsettling incident occurred at 2:30 PM involving a conductor on duty with vehicle number KA 57 F-1107, operating on route 500 EB/10 on October 23.. While the duty crew was on a lunch break near the Tin Factory bus stop, an unidentified individual entered the bus through the middle door and attacked the conductor, striking him on the head with a stone from behind. In a swift response, both the conductor and the driver pursued the assailant, aided by other employees of the corporation. They successfully apprehended the suspect and brought him back onto the bus.
Upon questioning, the attacker revealed he had previously travelled on the same bus three days earlier, during which a dispute over a monthly pass had occurred, suggesting premeditated intent to assault. As per a statement by the BMTC, the assaulted conductor was immediately taken to C.V. Raman Hospital by the corporation’s depot manager and traffic controller, where he received prompt medical attention. Fortunately, he did not sustain any injuries. Officials subsequently filed a complaint against the assailant, identified as Hemanth, at the Mahadevpura police station.
