NT Correspondent Bengaluru: Three teachers from a government school in Chikkamagaluru district were suspended due to ongoing disputes that occurred in front of students on Thursday. This behaviour has contributed to a significant decline in student enrollment at the Kirugunda Government Higher Primary School, with numbers dropping from 135 two years ago to just 35 now. The suspended teachers Kamalamma, Veena, and Sushila were reported to have engaged in open arguments during school hours, according to GK Puttaraju, the Deputy Director for Public Instructions in Chikkamagaluru as per reports. The school has a sanctioned strength of four teachers, one of whom is a guest faculty member.
With the suspension of all three permanent teachers, the education department has temporarily assigned three teachers from other schools, as stated by NA Meenakshi, the Mudigere block education officer. The trio faced numerous complaints over the years, including allegations of pilfering groceries intended for midday meals and a lack of discipline on campus according to media reports. Following an investigation led by block education officer Hemanth Kumar, headmistress Kamalamma was initially transferred to Kenjige school but returned to Kirugunda in June
