Covid dashboard set up to scotch rumours

Bengaluru: To allay the fears of residents during the third wave of Covid pandemic, a group of volunteers have restarted area-wise Covid Dashboard that had played a key role during the second wave of Covid pandemic in and around Seegehalli in Mahadevapura Zone.

“Our objective is to keep the residents posted with facts on Covid cases in the area. It helps us to scotch rumours. I want the residents to verify and confirm the information before forwarding it to people in other areas,’’ said Anvaya Foundation founder Sampath Ramanujam.

He said that around 30 volunteers have been collecting data on the spread of Covid pandemic and the medical facilities available in and around Seegehalli and other areas. “Each of the volunteers is a resident of a residential apartment complex. He will collect data from residents of that particular apartment tested positive for Covid. We will put all such information on the Dashboard for the benefit of residents,’’ he said.

Welcoming restarting the Dashboard, Sandeep Surendran, a member of managing committee of Sraddha White Cliff has said that Dashboard helps people to avail the accurate data thus not making them vulnerable to rumors on the number of people tested for Covid virus. “Dashboard has played a key role in providing accurate information during the second wave. It has helped the managing committee members of apartment complexes to take appropriate measures to prevent spreading viruses to others,’’ Surendran said.

He opined that data on apartment complexes where more people tested positive would avoid people from other areas to visit such apartment complexes. “Information on the Dashboard will make people interact with others and also encourage them to help people tested positive for coronavirus to get medical facilities,” he said.

The Dashboard states that 45 Covid cases have occurred in the Seegehalli neighborhood in the current week. The neighborhood is divided into five zones. While zone five – Kannamangala – reported the highest number of cases at 25, Seegehalli zone has the least number of Covid cases at three.

There are around 70 residential apartment complexes in and around Seegehalli. The volunteers have classified the residential apartments into four categories – green, yellow, orange, and red. The apartment complexes, completed vaccination and no cases are reported, have been classified as red green category.

The apartments that reported one positive case and completed vaccination fall into the yellow category and the apartments where less than five people tested positive for Covid are considered as orange and the apartments where more than five people tested positive for Covid are considered as a red category.
