Amidst its crackdown on illegal buildings in the city, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is under fire after an illegal buildng it claimed to have demolished, returned to its original form within a couple of days! Pictures on the return of the 'demolished' stucture have even been shared on social media recently.

After an under-construction building collapsed in Babusapalya, the BBMP faced severe criticism for its laid back approach while cracking down on illegal buildings. The colapse even prompted Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D K Shivakumar to announce a survey on under-construction buildings in the city. Meanwhile, the BBMP 'cracked down' on a building near K R Puram which was found to have built floors beyond the permitted number.

The BBMP on 'X' even said the illegal floors were being demolished with a JCB on Monday, October 28. However, a user named Vishesh Arora (@aroravishesh25 on X) found to his surprise that the 'demolished floor' was back on October 29! To make things worse, the BBMP’s post on the buiding demolition was deleted triggering outrage among netizens. A few alleged the Palike officials might have accepted bribes. “It’s an eyewash by BBMP officials!,” claimed a netizen.
