The Chamarajanagar district administration has temporarily banned the entry of two-wheelers to MM Hills from October 31 to midnight on November 2 in view of the Deepavali Jathra festival celebrations. An order to this effect was issued by Chamarajanagar Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag on Thursday.
As lakhs of devotees visit MM Hills in Hanur taluk from several districts during the festival, the order was issued to prevent overcrowding of vehicles on the hill’s narrow roads with sharp curves. In a press release, the officer stated that parking for two-wheelers has been arranged within the Kowdalli Gram Panchayat limits in Hanur. KSRTC buses are also operating from there to ferry devotees to the hills, and people are encouraged to use this facility, she stated.
