Bangladesh chase history in Taylor’s farewell Test
Hurting after a shock first test loss to Bangladesh, the Black Caps have vowed to give departing legend Ross Taylor the test farewell he deserves.
World test champions New Zealand produced a rare underwhelming red ball showing in home conditions at Mount Maunganui, leaving them fighting to tie the series in the second and final test in Christchurch, starting Sunday.
With batting great Taylor playing his 112th and final test for New Zealand at Hagley Oval, there is no shortage of motivation for the side to perform.
Serving up another sub-showing and allowing Bangladesh to head home with just their third away test series triumph would be a miserable way for Taylor to go out.
The Black Caps owe it to their senior statesman to produce a memorable outing and captain Tom Latham said he hadn’t needed to remind the side about the importance of the occasion.
