Over 17,000 vendors have been identified across the eight zones of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), it was confirmed on Tuesday. BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath urged officials to accelerate the vendor survey, which News Trail reported began in August, albeit on varying schedules set by each zone. Girinath also directed officials to prioritise the establishment of vending zones in areas with a high concentration of businesses and companies. As complaints about illegal footpath vendors with permanent structures continue to rise, Girinath called for expedited evictions to facilitate pedestrian movement in these areas. During the meeting, Girinath also addressed the collection of property tax across the city. Special commissioners Munish Maudgil, Suralkar Vikas Kishore, K. Harish Kumar, Avinash Menon Rajendran, and zonal commissioners Vinoth Priya, Satish, Archana, Snehal, Girish, Ramesh and Kari Gowda were present at the meeting.
