On the day that the principal Opposition BJP staged protests against tehsildars issuing notices to farmers that the state waqf board is claiming their lands, the spectre of factionalism continued to haunt the saffron party. Rebel BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal, who is on a separate anti-waqf “jatha” with like-minded party leaders, took potshots at the outfit’s state president BY Vijayendra on Friday. Criticizing the three factfinding teams formed by the BJP to probe the notices pertaining to waqf, Yatnal said: “They (the teams) have neither mother nor father. It is just to say Yatnal demanded teams and we have formed them. He (Vijayendra) doesn’t worry about waqf.” “He is only worried about how to become the Chief Minister in the future and how to loot just like his father,” he added. “It’ll be clear who will be orphaned in the days to come. I won’t speak much more than that about it now. The Bharatiya Janata Party is united and will fight as one for farmers,” Vijayendra hit back.
