Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a dig at BJP MLA from Tumakuru Rural B Suresh Gowda while on stage after laying the foundation stone for a Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) stadium on the outskirts of Tumakuru city. The stadium falls in Gowda’s constituency where land prices have reportedly skyrocketed due to the news of the stadium coming up. The CM claimed that Gowda had tried to stage a protest during his visit but abandoned the plan and chose to join the government programme in his capacity as an MLA instead.

“I’ve been in politics for 41 years, Leader of the Opposition twice, Chief Minister twice. If I was the kind to get scared, I wouldn’t be standing here today. I’ve done nothing wrong, so there’s nothing to fear,” Siddaramaiah quipped. The CM added that Opposition MLAs contradicted themselves when they said the State government had money while demanding funds for their constituencies.
