Minister: Faculty development vital for better higher education

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: To align Karnataka’s higher education system with global standards, faculty capacity building is essential, said Higher Education Minister Dr M.C. Sudhakar. Speaking at a four-day international capacity-building training session organised by the British Council for Higher Education officials, Dr Sudhakar emphasised the importance of the programme.

He noted that many talented students from India pursue higher education abroad each year, highlighting the need to make learning more engaging and competitive within the state. “Faculty members from 30 universities in Karnataka must utilise this training to enhance education for our students,” he added. The training, led by experts Mark and Steve Wa from the UK, focuses on equipping faculty with innovative teaching methods.

As part of the British Council’s Scout initiative, six students from various universities recently completed a 14-day academic exchange programme at the University of East London. Minister Sudhakar met with the students and their accompanying nodal officers to gather a feedback.
