
Metro's Hebbal- Sarjapura stretch gets nod

In relief for commuters, the Karnataka government approved the Detailed Project Report(DPR) of Phase 3A of Namma Metro connecting Sarjapura in the east and Hebbal in the North on Friday. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil confirmed the development. The 36.59 kilometre stretch, which cuts through important hubs in the city to connect the IT corridor, will cost Rs.28,405 crore.
In July this year, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) submitted a DPR of Phase 3A. The line will feature 17 elevated stations and 11 underground stations. Important stations include Bellandur gate, Koramangala 2nd and 3rd Block Dairy Circle, Town Hall, KR Circle, PG Halli and Hebbal. Phase 2 of Namma metro is set to cost more.
Land acquisition, rolling stock, depot work and forex variation haVE increased the cost from Rs 30,695 crore to Rs. Rs 40,164 crore. This has reportedly been approved by the Government. Of the 75 kilometres, 40.41 kilometres is yet to be commissioned.
