Revenue Minister says BJP will destroy JD(S)

Revenue minister Krishna Byregowda on Sunday warned that the BJP will destroy the JD(S) with which it is in an alliance, in future. Speaking to reporters in Mysuru , he warned JD(S) leaders that the BJP will not allow it to grow in strength. He claimed the BJP has already 'destroyed' the JD(S) in Channapatna in its bastion where it lost the bypoll to the Congress recently. During the parliamentary polls, the BJP candidate in Bengaluru Rural constituency secured nearly 1.10 lakh votes, but in the recently held bypolls, JDS –BJP nominee Nikhil Kumarawamy was able to secure only 85000 votes and lost to Congress candidate C P Yogeshwar by a huge margin of 25,000 votes.

He accused BJP leaders of tacitly supporting the Congress candidate in the Channapatna bypoll. If the BJP had supported the JD(S) candidate honestly, Nikhil Kumaraswamy would have won, but this has not happened with BJP votes not transferred to the JD(S), he alleged. He claimed the BJP has improved its performance in old Mysuru districts by taking the support of the JD(S). In coming years, the BJP will adopt a 'use and throw' policy as far as the JD(S) is concerned, he cautioned.
