Latham hits 252, Boult takes 300th wicket as NZ dominate
New Zealand have taken a 395-run lead over Bangladesh in the ongoing second Test in Christchurch after bowling out the visitors for a below-par total of 126 ahead of stumps on Day 2.
Trent Boult took five wickets as he became only the fourth Kiwi bowler to take 300 Test wickets, while Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson took three and two wickets respectively. Boult produced a ripper, knocking over Mehidy Hasan’s off stump for his fourth of the innings, taking him to 300 test wickets – just the fourth New Zealander to do so. He finished with 5-43, ending the day by bowling Shoriful Islam.
Earlier, Tom Latham scored 252 as New Zealand had declared their first innings at 521 for 6 on Day 2. It was the second test double-century for the left-hander and his second- best test score, behind his 264 not out against Sri Lanka in Wellington in 2018.
Yasir Ali and Nurul Hasan provided some resistance, adding 60 for the sixth wicket until Southee grabbed the breakthrough, trapping Nurul in front for his third.
