BJP MLA from Karkala V Sunil Kumar demanded a white paper on the amount of MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD) funds released to each of the 224 constituencies in the state since the Congress came to power in May 2023. Sunil alleged that there had been a scarcity of funds since Congress came to power because of its financial commitment to the five guarantee welfare schemes, which cost them a whopping Rs 52,000 crore every financial year. “Even ruling party MLAs have said this on a number of occasions in different media statements,” Kumar said.

“This is a zero development government,” he added to which Congress MLAs responded with strong disagreement. “Not just the Congress but we too agreed to this Budget but we haven’t received a single rupee so far. The situation is such that we aren’t even able to fill the potholes in our constituencies,” he added.
