Sugar town Mandya decks up for 87th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana

Mandya city is all set to host the three-day 87th All-India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana for the third time after three decades, from Friday to Sunday With preparations complete including setting up of the platform near Srinivasapura village on the Mandya- Mysuru Expressway, Kannada enthusiasts have started thronging the Sugar Town of Karnataka. Sammelana president Go Ru Channabasappa was formally welcomed near the venue on Thursday.
About 2500 workers including 750 cooks have been hired by Navaneeth Caterers of Mysuru who are busy preparing food for the participants including one lakh holige sweets, Badusha, Mysuru Pak, Laddus and other food items. With the administration not permitting non -vegetarian food, a team of Kannada activists led by Rajendraprasad, have launched a drive to collect chicken, sheep and goats from Mandya district to protest against this.
