Bengaluru, Jan. 10 To check the surge in Covid cases, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will scale up Corona tests in the city. Two people died of Covid and 9221 people tested positive in the city on Monday.
“We have already increased coronavirus tests from 38,000 to 70,000 per day. If the need arises, the BBMP will make arrangements to scale up tests,’’ said BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta.
He said though the number of people testing positive for the virus has been increasing in the city, the public need not panic as medical facilities are available for treating Covid patients.
“Among the 9000 people who tested positive, hardly 100 needed hospitalization. Most of the positive cases are in home isolation. Those who have been admitted to private hospitals are in general wards,’’ said the BBMP Chief Commissioner, adding that people have also got admitted to private hospitals on their own.
Appealing to the public to follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB), he said the public have to wear face masks to protect themselves.
