Bengaluru: A 23 year old youth stabbed himself with a kitchen knife on Sunday after his parents reprimanded him for idling away his time instead of finding a job. The incident took place at the boy’s residence in Padarayanapura.

Syed Sahil had been unemployed for a long time and was constantly told by his parents to find a job, the police said. “The family often indulged in a heated argument as Sahil used to be with his friends the whole day and would return late in the evening to watch TV. Worried over his behaviour, his parents would lecture him,” an official from JJ Nagar police station told News Trail.

According to the parents, the deceased often got irritated and argued with them whenever he was told to find a job.On Sunday when he returned home, Sahil’s father rebuked him. Upset over being scolded, the youth went into the kitchen and stabbed himself in the stomach with a knife. It was only when his mother saw his blood-stained hands that the family panicked and shifted him to a hospital. However, he succumbed to the injury.
