
Congress rally to follow CWC meeting in B'gavi

Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress Chief DK Shivakumar revealed that a rally in Belagavi on December 27 would accompany the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting. The meeting will coincide with the centenary celebrations of the elevation of Mahatma Gandhi as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president. “There will be a mega public rally under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge on the morning of December 27. Many national leaders will speak on the occasion. Party workers from across the state will participate in the public meeting,” Shivakumar said after holding a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and senior ministers on the CWC meeting and the centenary celebrations.
The Karnataka Congress Chief said that the party would take stock of the future course of action in the CWC meeting. “The CWC will take a decision on the nature of the fight the party would like to take up to lead the country in the right direction,” Shivakumar said. “The CWC meeting will take place at 3 pm on December 26. All members of the CWC, presidents of all PCCs (Pradesh Congress Committees), AICC General Secretaries and office bearers, 150 MPs will take part in the meeting,” he added.
Shivakumar added that the State government would extend invitations cutting across party lines for the unveiling of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on December 26. “Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi will unveil the statue. Public are not allowed for this event in view of security restrictions,” he said.
