Bengaluru: In what could be described as a rags-toriches tale, garage mechanic turned driver Narayana Swamy has etched his name in the folklore of Indian drag racing by winning the FMSCI National Drag Racing Championship at the 11th edition of the Vroom Drag Meet. The event, held at Hosur on the outskirts of the city, saw Swamy take the Taneja Aerospace strip by storm, showcasing his remarkable racing skills to clinch the coveted title.

Hailing from Sampigehalli in Jakkur, Swamy’s story is one of grit, resilience, and inspiration. Reflecting on his historic achievement, he said, “Winning this championship is a dream come true. From humble beginnings to earning the title of national champion, it’s been a journey of passion and hard work.” Originally scheduled for November 15–17, the meet, organised by Vroom Motorsports, was postponed due to security concerns and eventually took place on Saturday (December 21) and Sunday (December 22).
