Bengaluru: After public outrage over holding back the launch of its whey-based dosa batter, Chief Minister Siddaramiah on Wednesday launched Nandini’s Dosa batter along with cabinet colleagues here on Wednesday. It was released in two sizes - 500 grams for Rs 40, and 900 grams for Rs 80. It will be available from Thursday, December 26. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) has recently emerged from a confusing phase after the transfer of Jagadeesh MK from the post of KMF Managing Director (MD). His transfer stalled the launch of the dosa batter in a market dominated by private players like iD, Asal and MTR.
It was during his tenure that Nandini made its stride into international sport - sponsoring for the Ireland and Scotland cricket teams for the T20 World cup. Nandini is also the title sponsor of the Indian Super League (ISL). KMF chairman Bheema Naik earlier stated that the lack of a facility to prepare the batter by KMF is the reason behind holding the launch. However, official sources disclosed that public outrage over the delay had led to fast-tracking of the launch.
This also comes after Mother Dairy’s launch of its dosa batter under its flagship brand “Safal” in Delhi. Plans to expand this product to other regions would be made based on the response Nandini batter gets in the city. “Urban consumers, particularly those pressed for time due to work pressures, are increasingly seeking readyto- cook meals,” the KMF stated.
