New goods terminal opens in Heelalige

NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: With over 20,000 bags of cement weighing over 1000 tons coming in, the new Heelalige goods sheds received its first shipment on Thursday. Situated on the outskirts of Bengaluru on the Salem line, the goods terminal can handle goods demand from the city and Hosur in Tamil Nadu.

The road access via the Dommasandra- Whitefield main road also helps large vehicles move smoothly. This will help decongest traffic in and around the city. The goods terminal can handle rakes of upto 59 wagons, and all goods except petrol and iron ore. The Heelalige goods terminal is also expected to help in lessening the burden on the Whitefield Goods Terminal.
