Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced extended metro train services on the Purple and Green Lines for New Year’s Eve, 2025. To accommodate the celebratory crowds, the last train will depart from all terminal stations at 2:00 am on January 1, 2025, while the final service from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station (Majestic) will leave at 2:40 am. From 11:00 pm on December 31, 2024, until the extended service period, trains will run at 10-minute intervals.
However, MG Road Metro Station will be closed for entry and exit from 11:00 pm onwards due to anticipated crowd congestion. Nearby stations Trinity and Cubbon Park will serve commuters instead. Passengers departing after 11:00 pm from Trinity or Cubbon Park Metro Stations are advised to use return journey paper tickets priced at Rs 50.
These tickets will be available for purchase in advance at all metro stations from 8:00 am on December 31, 2024. Regular QR code tickets and metro cards will also remain valid for travel. To prevent overcrowding, BMRCL suggests that passengers travelling towards Whitefield and Silk Institute use Trinity Metro Station, while those heading to Challaghatta and Madavara board from Cubbon Park Metro Station. BMRCL encourages commuters to plan their travel wisely and cooperate for a safe and smooth journey.
