Bengaluru: The Chennammana Kere Achukattu Police Station has arrested an accused who murdered his roommate over a trivial matter and allegedly fled the scene. T. Nagaraj (36) is the arrested accused. A case was registered on December 26 on the charge that Nagaraj had allegedly beaten his roommate, Srinivas (45), to death with a water heater coil and then fled. Both of them, who hailed from T. Narasipura, worked as plasterers in the city. They lived in a rented room in Srinivasa Nagar.
The victim had a troubled marriage and lived away from his wife. It is said that Srinivas would often spend time in the room using Nagaraj's mobile phone. He would also withhold the room key, leading to frequent arguments. On December 26, a heated argument broke out between them in the afternoon, during which Nagaraj struck Srinivas with the water heater coil in a fit of rage. Srinivas went to bed that night complaining of internal pain and succumbed to his injuries by morning.
Upon discovering Srinivas dead, Nagaraj fled the house. The incident came to light when neither showed up for work, prompting their employer to send the room maintenance man to investigate. The police visited the spot, inspected it, registered a case, and arrested Nagaraj, who had been absconding after the incident.
