Two drown in Chamarajanagar as SUV plunges into lake, one saved

Mysuru: Two Mysure a n s drowned in a lake at Kuntur in Kollegal taluk in Chamarajanagar while one escaped when the SUV they were travelling in, plunged into the water body. They were headed to MM Hills when the SUV driver reportedly lost control and drove into the lake. According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Urjith (25), a car driver from Mysuru and Shubha (21) of Kuderu village in Chamarajanagar taluk, who was working as a telecaller in Mysuru. Police rescued the third person, Manvith. Shubha and Manvith had hired the SUV for a trip to MM Hills.

Shubha and the driver died on the spot while Manvith escaped by climbing on the car bonnet and crying for help. On receiving information, police and fire force personnel rushed to the spot and rescued Manvith. Police handed over the bodies of the deceased to their relatives after conducting the post mortem. Superintendent of Police BT Kavitha and Kollegal DySP Dharmendra also visited the accident spot. Mamballi- Agara Police have registered a case and an investigation is underway.
