65,000 youth attend job training mela

Mysuru: As many as 65,000 youth participated in the Job training mega mela organized at five different locations by Krishnaraja MLA S.A. Ramdas, in Mysuru.

Of the 65,000, 15,556 persons had registered their names voluntarily and over 27,500 youth had registered in the door to door campaign by volunteers. Interestingly, most of them have opted for training for UPSC, Defense and Police exams. Some of them have opted for training in Chartered Accountancy, Medicine, Para-medical, Technical and semi-technical, science research, and public service while some others have even chosen politics.

Ramdas, who was the brain behind the mela, told News Trail that based on the information given by youth, projects would be developed for the enhancement of their skills. A number of companies, departments of State and Union Governments, banks, Public Sector Companies, banks and others had put up the stalls to elicit the opinion of the young. The motto behind the mela was to make youth entrepreneurs and job providers and not job seekers.

The MLA said over 25,000 students participated in the mela and shared information on their goals besides providing insights on their career options.

At the mela venue, free vaccination was offered to children in the age group of 15 to 18 years. As many as 18,000 students took the first dose in five days. A compilation of the mela results was handed over to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for the government to take action.
