Bengaluru: A 57-year-old civil contractor became the victim of a honey trap orchestrated by a 20-year-old woman named Nayana in Tunganagar, within the Byadarahalli Police Station limits. The contractor was invited to Nayana’s home under the pretence of having tea. Once he arrived, strangers posing as police officers entered, assaulted him and accused him of adultery.

They extorted money, took his gold jewellery, and transferred funds via PhonePe. The gang demanded an additional Rs 2 lakh, threatening to bring a child to the contractor’s house if he filed a complaint. Desperate, the contractor approached the Byadarahalli police, who swiftly arrested the extortionists Santosh, Ajay and Jayaraj.

Nayana, evading capture for three weeks, was eventually arrested near Hebbal along with her accomplice Mohan. The police also took Nayana’s mother into custody for questioning. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the extortion racket.
