K'taka schools to issue SOPs following HMPV cases; sick children to stay home

Bengaluru: Following the discovery of the HMP Virus (HMPV) in two children in Bengaluru, the Department of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) has announced plans to issue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) soon. The Commissioner of Public Instruction informed that the department has been in discussions with the Health Department.
He reassured me that the situation only calls for basic respiratory etiquette and that there is no cause for concern. In response, several private schools in Bengaluru have issued advisories to parents, advising them not to send their children to school if they show even mild symptoms like a cough, cold, or fever.
A board member of Delhi Public Schools suggested that schools provide an option for sick children to attend tests at a later date. Schools have instructed teachers to closely monitor students' health, and if any child appears unwell, parents are advised to take them home.
