Is Revenue Dept clean? HDK asks Byre Gowda

Bengaluru: Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Steel and Public Enterprises HD Kumaraswamy on Friday hit back against Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda for his comments pertaining to the electoral loss suffered by the former’s son Nikhil. Byre Gowda had remarked that Kumaraswamy was making his “60 per cent commission” allegations against the Congress government because of the frustration resulting from his son Nikhil suffering defeats in all three elections he had contested, with the latest one coming in Channapatna in November last year.

Nikhil had lost to Congress candidate CP Yogeshwar by a handsome margin of more than 25,000 votes. Kumaraswamy shot back that even the Revenue Department wasn’t running cleanly. “He (Byre Gowda) said that Kumaraswamy has become desperate because of his son’s loss. Forget about my desperation or lack thereof, Mr Byre Gowda. Give a reply to the pertinent question. Is your Revenue Department running cleanly? What amount have you fixed for the post of Bengaluru city Assistant Commissioner? Who gets paid? Don’t we know what you’re up to?” he asked.

“I have also come to power. I never claimed to be Harishchandra. I even said it in the Assembly. If you want to contest elections, you have to stretch out your hands before other people. What I never did was put everything for sale. I never looted. I never did such things,” Kumaraswamy said, adding that the State government had effectively put its signature and approval up for sale.
