Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu Member of parliament Yaduveer Krishnadutta Chamaraja Wadiyar on Sunday clarified that he will abide by the Supreme Court directions regarding the restoration and renovation of the century-old Devaraja Market and Lansdowne building, major landmarks of the city. Speaking to reporters after taking part in a rally organized by the District BJP youth wing as part of National Youth Day, he said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has given directions to officials to initiate measures for reconstruction of the dilapidated Devaraja Market and Lansdowne building by demolishing both landmarks after clearing all legal disputes.

He said that he is instead demanding restoration and renovation of both heritage structures without demolishing them. Traders and several organizations have opposed the decision of Mysuru City Corporation for demolishing the structures and have approached the court. "I will abide by the Supreme Court verdict regarding the landmarks, which are damaged and needed urgent restoration," he said.

The MP also wanted the state government to expedite the expansion of Mysuru Airport runway by handing over the remaining 42 acres of land to Airport Authority of India(AAI). He sought the help of the CM for realignment of irrigation canals, replacement of electric lines and construction of a bypass near the airport. He said he would help the CM to get funds from the Centre for such works.
