Higher Edu Min announces unified entrance exam dates

Bengaluru: In a significant announcement, Karnataka’s Higher Education Minister, Dr. M.C. Sudhakar, revealed the dates for the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2025, which will be held on April 16 and 17. The CET is a gateway for admissions to professional courses like engineering, veterinary sciences, and others. Applications for the exam can be submitted online from January 23 to February 21. Additionally, the Kannada Language Test for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates will be conducted on April 18.

This year marks a first as the minister announced all entrance exam dates for professional courses in a single statement, promoting better coordination across departments. The CET exam schedule includes Physics and Chemistry on the first day, followed by Mathematics and Biology on the second. A common application form has been introduced, encompassing courses such as Yoga and Naturopathy, B-Pharm, Pharm- D, Agricultural Sciences, and B.Sc. (Nursing). This reform aims to simplify the registration process for students while ensuring uniformity. The same form applies to medical, dental, AYUSH, architecture, and allied health science courses. To enhance security and prevent fraudulent applications, candidates will now undergo multiple levels of verification. Academic records will be automatically fetched using the Student Achievement Tracking System (SATS), while reservation details will be validated through an automated process. For the first time, candidates will use OTP-based logins to register. Each mobile number can only be linked to one candidate, ensuring authenticity.

Document verification will also see a major change, as candidates need to visit their respective PU colleges for verification instead of Block Education Offices. Colleges will receive credentials to verify documents, reducing the burden on students. Candidates whose details are marked as "Successfully Verified" can download their verification slips post-results, while others will need to provide original documents for manual verification. SMS updates will be sent at every stage, keeping students informed about their application status.
