Bengaluru: Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao emphasised the importance of promoting the Yuva Nidhi scheme to educated youth, urging the Implementation Committee of the Guarantee Schemes to take proactive steps. Speaking at a progress review meeting for Gandhi Nagar constituency’s guarantee schemes in Bengaluru, he highlighted the successful implementation of programs like the Griha Jyoti and Griha Lakshmi schemes, particularly benefiting underprivileged communities.
Minister Gundu Rao noted that nearly 90 per cent of the residents in the slum areas of Gandhi Nagar have benefitted from the Griha Jyoti scheme. Guarantee schemes are rapidly reaching the people and their effective utilisation is evident. He directed officials to assess the number of people from low- and middle-income groups benefiting from these programs. While small hurdles remain in the implementation of the schemes, Gundu Rao stressed the need to address them promptly. He urged the committee members to work closely with officials to ensure the smooth and easy delivery of these schemes to the people.
On food security, Gundu Rao mentioned that the Food Department is directly issuing BPL cards to eligible households, which has helped reduce misuse. The Anna Bhagya scheme ensures no one sleeps hungry. He also pointed out how free bus rides for women and the Griha Lakshmi scheme have empowered women and provided them with a path to financial independence.
