ATM cash handlers accused of misusing funds to buy gold

Mysuru: Bilikere police have registered a case against two individuals employed by an agency responsible for filling cash into ATMs, for allegedly misappropriating the agency’s money to purchase gold ornaments. Based on a complaint filed by T L Enterprises, Bilikere police have filed an FIR against Akshaykumar and Tejaswini.

According to the police, the duo were working for T L Enterprises, a company that had secured a contract to fill cash for 16 ATMs in Mysuru district. During the company's audit, it was discovered that the duo had misappropriated Rs 5.80 lakh. Under interrogation, they confessed to not depositing Rs 5.80 lakh into an ATM at Gaddige village in HD Kote taluk. Instead, they used the money to purchase gold ornaments.

The police have obtained CCTV footage showing the duo failing to deposit the cash at the Gaddige ATM and subsequently buying gold ornaments from a jewellery shop. Speaking to reporters, Superintendent of Police N Vishnuvardhan stated that Bilikere police have registered a fraud case against the pair, and an investigation is underway.
