
Bahuroopi receives overwhelming response with one lakh audience

Mysuru: Rangayana director Satish Tiptur on Monday said that the 25th edition of Bahuroopi national theatre festival organized on the theme 'Liberation: Social justice-Movements and Theatre’ that concluded on Sunday, received an overwhelming response with participation of more than one lakh enthusiasts this year. Addressing a press conference held at Rangayana premises here, he said the audience enjoyed all the cultural events it organized on the occasion including multilingual stage plays at different venues like Vanaranga, Kirurangamandir, street plays, film festival, seminars, workshops and folklore events.
The children's stage play with a participation of 200 school students from different schools, which was organized by Rangayana for the first time this year, received huge appreciation from the audience. Rangayana also arranged transportation services to bring government school students to watch the children's drama free of cost.
As many as 1200 artistes entertained the audience who arrived from various parts of the state and country for all the six days. Its 22 multilingual stage plays including those in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, English, Kannada, national level workshops and seminars received an enthusiastic response. Almost all venues had full occupancy for all six days.It also earned a revenue of Rs 2.5 to 2.75 lakh.
