SWR Mysuru division surpasses Rs 1000 cr revenue during this current year : DRM Shilpi Agarwal

Mysuru: South Western Railways Mysuru divisional manager Shilpi Agarwal on Sunday highlighted the fact that the division’s total revenue has surpassed Rs 1,000 crore, with goods revenue amounting to Rs 649.44 crore and passenger revenue reaching Rs 315.51 crore. She was speaking after a ceremonial parade by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Scouts & Guides at the Railway Sports Ground to mark the 76th Republic Day celebrations.

She said that the division performed well in multiple areas including financial growth, safety measures, infrastructure enhancements, and passenger services. She noted a significant rise in freight operations, including the loading of 73 NMG rakes of automobiles and an impressive increase in food grain transportation. The division transported 24.95 million passengers, maintaining an impressive 94% punctuality for mail and express trains.

To cater to increased demand during peak seasons, special trains were also introduced connecting popular destinations across the country including Prayagraj where the Kumbh Mela is being organised. Underlining the division’s commitment to safety ,Agarwal mentioned that 15 Railway Board safety drives and two headquarter safety drives were conducted to secure train operations.

A large-scale mock drill involving multiple stakeholders was also carried out to enhance emergency preparedness. The DRM also said all stations within the division are equipped with UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) facilities, while a QR code-based ticketing has been introduced to enhance convenience. Additionally, the division has implemented the Integrated Passenger Information System (IPIS) to provide real-time updates on train arrivals and departures, along with installing Coach Guidance Display Boards and Train Indication Boards at several stations. The officer also said that the division achieved track speed enhancements across 191.12 km, enabling faster train operations.

The introduction of Vande Bharata Express trains between Mysuru and Chennai has significantly improved travel convenience and comfort. Additional achievements included commissioning new traction substations at Ramagiri and Mandagere, upgrading 22 Level Crossings to improve safety and traffic flow, and installing a 90 KWP rooftop solar plant system at three service buildings to support sustainable energy initiatives.
