Padayatra coming, Mysuru-Bengaluru highway closed for vehicular movement

Bengaluru: The Police pepartment has diverted the movement of vehicles on Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway in the wake of the padayatra by the Congress Party which will hit the highway on January 13 and 14.

According to a notification issued by the Ramanagar District Police on Wednesday, all vehicles from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Madikeri towards Bengaluru; and vehicles towards Madikeri, Chamarajanagar and Mysuru from Bengaluru must move on Mysuru-Bannur- Kiragavalu-Malavalli- Halagur-Sathanur-Kanakapura- Harohalli-Kaggalipura- Banashankari-Sarakki route or on Mysuru-Srirangapatna- Pandavapura- Nagamangala-Bellur Cross- Kunigal-Nelamangala route on these two days instead of taking the highway.

This had been done to avoid chaos on the Bengaluru- Mysuru National Highway with thousands of Congress workers walking on this road to reach the state capital. The diversion is likely to create more problems as thousands of people are likely to go to their native places on Friday in connection with the Makara Sankranti festival. Besides, the ongoing ten-lane Expressway project being executed by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has already slowed down the movement of vehicles between the two major cities.
