Committee for Greater Bengaluru Authority to take up suggestions next week

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: As the deadline nears for the state to compile its report on the Greater Bengaluru Authority as per the Greater Bengaluru Administration bill, a joint review committee of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly will start taking in suggestions from the general public from Monday, February 10. The committee, headed by Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad was expected to submit a report earlier this year. However the deadline was pushed to February 21. The committee will sit and accept suggestions from the public. Later, zonal visits on alternate days from Monday, February 10 will commence.

The east and Mahadevapura zones will have meetings on February 10, Rajarajeshwari Nagar and West Zone on Tuesday, 11th February and Yelahanka and Dasarahalli Zones on February 12. The Greater Bengaluru Authority looks to replace Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and create multiple new corporations, which will report to the Greater Bengaluru Authority headed by the Chief Minister. This move comes in the wake of citizens not getting a chance to vote in the local body polls for five years.
