NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: An All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) delegation submitted a memorandum to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director (MD) Maheshwar Rao M over the recent hike in Metro fares. The delegation was led by AIDSO Bengaluru district secretary Kalyan Kumar and AIDSO district treasurer Nawaz.
They requested the BMRCL MD that students be given a 50 per cent concession on ticket prices, adding that in their estimation about 30 per cent of the seven lakh daily commuters on the Metro were students. BMRCL officially hiked the Metro ticket prices by “40 to 45 per cent” on Sunday. However, many commuters alleged that the increase in prices was much more than 45 per cent, depending on the distance and route taken.
