Bengaluru: A bizarre inci - dent in which a woman allegedly sought a doctor’s help to obtain a pill to kill her mother-in-law has taken a new twist. Based on a complaint filed by Dr Sunil Hebbi from Bhadrappa Block under the Sanjaynagar Police Station limits, the police took the woman from Kollegal into custody. During interrogation, she admitted to asking the doctor for a pill but claimed it was not intended to harm her mother-in-law.
The woman, who lived in Makali and had been married to a cab driver for one and a half years, has a child. She had reportedly attempted suicide twice in the past and once left her home due to depression. After obtaining Dr Sunil’s number via Google, she messaged him last Monday, seeking a pill to kill her mother-in-law, whom she accused of torturing her. Sunil responded, stating he was a doctor who saves lives and alerted the police. The Sanjaynagar police said that after the WhatsApp message went viral on social media, the woman’s husband brought her to the station.
However, no conflict was found between her and her mother-in-law during questioning. During the interrogation, the woman revealed she was struggling with depression and intended to end her own life. Dr Sunil stated that the investigation confirmed the woman was mentally unwell and under treatment. The police clarified that she had actually sought the pill to die by suicide.
Dr Sunil also mentioned that the woman had contacted him through Instagram. “As I suspected someone was trying to trap me, I filed a police complaint. I had also received a lifethreatening call from a stranger before,” he added.
