
Muzrai wing intensifies clearing of encroachments in temples

Mysuru: Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Friday said the government is committed to the improvement of muzrai temples across the state. He was speaking after inaugurating the Agama convocation graduation ceremony for distribution of certificates to trained priests at Jaganmohan Palace in the city. He said the government has also intensified the drive to clear encroachments on temple land after conducting a survey of such land, even acquiring thousands of acres by conducting the drive.
The government plans to acquire more land by clearing encroachments in the coming days, he said. The government is also taking care of priests and giving scholarships to their children, even providing funds to children to study abroad besides ensuring pension for priests who have completed 65 years of age. The government is sponsoring free trips to 1200 priests to visit pilgrim centres across the country every year, he said.
