Kannada actress Vismaya booked for loan 'fraud'

Bengaluru: A case has been registered against Kannada actress and director Vismaya Gowda for alleged loan fraud. The complaint, filed at Basaveshwaranagar Police Station, accuses her of borrowing money and issuing a fraudulent cheque. Vismaya is accused of taking a loan fraudulently. A complaint was lodged at Basaveshwaranagar Police Station.

The complainant, identified as Bindu, claims Vismaya took ?6.5 lakh from her and issued a cheque, which bounced. According to police reports, Bindu, a resident of Shakti Ganapathi Nagar, met Vismaya in 2019 through Instagram. At the time, Vismaya presented herself as a film director and life coach, which led Bindu to attend her training sessions.

Over time, the two became friends, with Vismaya even visiting Bindu’s clinic. In February 2024, Vismaya allegedly approached Bindu, claiming she was in financial distress and needed funds urgently. Bindu arranged ?5 lakh from her mother’s bank account and ?1.5 lakh from her savings, making it a total of ?6.5 lakh. Vismaya issued a post-dated cheque as repayment, which bounced.
