Bengaluru: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao asserted that if the Central Government continues to withhold funding for treatment expenses, the state may end up covering 90 per cent of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, should the Centre revise it. Currently, the state government is shouldering 75 per cent of the costs, which deviates from the established 60:40 funding formula intended for the Centre, Gundu Rao claimed In response to a query from MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Gundu Rao indicated that the Centre is contributing merely 25 per cent of the necessary funds.

“The treatment costs under the scheme have not been revised since 2018. If a revision occurs, the state government will have to bear 90 per cent of the scheme's funding, while the Central Government's contribution will come down to 10 per cent,” he elaborated. The state government has already extended the Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka
