
Gold haul: CBI searches Ranya Rao’s house, hotel where wedding took place
NT Correspondent Bengaluru The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths, who have taken up the investigation into the gold smuggling case, inspected Ranya Rao’s residence in Bengaluru, the hotel where her wedding took place, and the offices of the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). As part of gathering evidence about those linked to Ranya, an accused in the gold smuggling case, the wedding footage and guest list are being scrutinized to find out about the guests who attended her wedding ceremony and the expensive gifts she received. The information on the land details approved by KIADB is also being collected within the stipulated period, the CBI sources said. The gold smuggling case is said to have extended beyond Ranya Rao, and CBI officials are probing possible links. On the other hand, the Special Economic Offences Court, Bengaluru, has adjourned the hearing of Ranya’s bail application to Wednesday. The court directed the DRI officials to file objections in response to the bail application filed by Ranya.
