Teams would be formed to prevent pollution of Cauvery

Madikeri: State Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar offered prayers at Bhagandeshwara temple and Talacauvery shrine in Kodagu on Friday and collected holy water. During the ceremony for the Cauvery Aarti held on Friday evening at Sankey lake in Bengaluru the holy water from Talacauvery was distributed among people.

In response to reporters' queries regarding the pollution of Cauvery river water, Shivakumar stated that a team will be formed to address the pollution and encroachment issues affecting the river and its banks. As part of World Water Day, a week-long water conservation campaign will be conducted. The objective of Cauvery Aarti is to raise awareness about preventing the misuse of water and promoting its proper use.

Funds have already been allocated for organizing Cauvery Aarti, he added. He urged the public and politicians to participate by pledging online to conserve water and promoting this initiative on social media. Shivakumar also disclosed that he would participate in a meeting called by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday to oppose the reorganization of parliamentary constituencies or delimitation.
