Bengaluru: The Basaveshwara Nagar police have arrested television actors Rajat Kishan and Vinay Gowda for brandishing firearms in a public area and subsequently posting the footage on social media. The pair, who rose to prominence as contestants on the well-known Kannada reality show ‘Bigg Boss,’ is currently participating together in another reality series titled ‘Boys vs Girls’.

Their arrest was prompted by a complaint lodged by Bhanu Prakash, the Police Sub Inspector overseeing the social media division, which led to the initiation of a case under the Arms Act. Both actors were summoned for interrogation on Monday evening, after which they were taken into custody by the police. Sources indicate that they are expected to be produced before a magistrate on Tuesday morning. The actors had filmed an 18-second clip in which they were seen brandishing a long firearm while donning sunglasses.

This video was shared on Instagram by an account named ‘Bujji,’ accompanied by a song from a film. Upon noticing the video, the police reached out to Rajat and Vinay, instructing them to come in for questioning. However, shortly after being notified, the ‘Bujji’ account removed the video, seemingly attempting to avoid scrutiny. They ultimately complied and appeared for questioning later that evening, resulting in their arrest. A police official said, “Filming with dangerous weapons in public is a serious offense.”
