Cop ‘floors’ thief, video goes viral

Mangaluru: The video of a police constable who chased a thief and caught him in the city, has gone viral in social media.

The incident happened on Wednesday when a team of youth from Bihar was stealing mobile phones from a shop in the city. A police constable Varun Alva noticed them and when the thief, Shamanth (20) of Attavar, Babugudde attempted to flee the spot, Varun chased and caught him. To prevent the thief from escaping from his clutches, Varun was seen pushing him into the ground. The scene was captured in a mobile phone and the footage has gone viral in social media. After Varun alerted the public, some locals in the area succeeded in nabbing another person named Hareesh Poojary (32) of the same gang. They also succeeded in recovering the mobile phone from the accused. However, another accused, Rajesh, succeeded in fleeing the scene.
