A luxury Ferrari worth Rs. 7.5 crore has been seized near Lalbagh by the RTO for road tax evasion. The car, registered in Maharashtra, has reportedly been operating in Karnataka since September 2023 without paying local tax. The RTO has slapped a ?1.78 crore tax and penalty notice on the owner. Officials said the car had paid only ?20 lakh in Maharashtra, far less than Karnataka’s requirement.
The violation came to light after traffic police alerted the RTO. Though the car has been seized, it remains parked outside the owner's residence, raising concerns of a possible hush-hush settlement. RTO officials warned that failure to pay would lead to permanent confiscation. The incident has reignited debate on high-end vehicles dodging local taxes.
