Man booked for stealing electricity worth Rs 4.82 lakh in Bhiwandi

Thane: One person has been booked for al legedly stealing electricity worth Rs 4.82 lakh in Bhi wandi in Thane district, an official said on Thursday. Amar Laxman Gharat of Karivali here allegedly stole 13,649 units of electricity over a period of one year, the Shanti Nagar po lice station official said. "On the complaint of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited staff, we booked him under Electricity Act 2003. An inspection on May 16 this year showed he was drawing power directly from the transformer by passing MSEDCL's meter mechanism. He is yet to be arrested," the official said. (PTI)
