Moulana Maqsood urges unity for nation’s collective progress

Bengaluru: While the freedom struggle was more than 78 years ago and our country became free, we have many languages and creeds, yet we have become opponents of one another,” Moulana Dr.Mohamed Maqsood Imran Rashadi of the Jamia Masjid in Bengaluru told NewsTrail.

He went on to say that this is one of the main reasons why India is not developing at a faster rate. “We must rise above all these differences, states insulting each other’s language, keeping us entangled in Hindu–Muslim riots, using the poor for votes, and exploiting them.

These are the reasons why the country does not prosper.” He cited the example of a country like the U.S.A., where people of all religions, colours, and a variety of cultures live together. “But that does not come in the way of them doing their work,” he said.

Rashadi also pointed to the brain drain in the country, where accomplished and welleducated individuals leave to work overseas. “If we give these people opportunities here, they will help us gain true freedom and make the country a great power.”

He also spoke about fascist forces creating divisions in society and weaponising differences. “These people aim to create differences and provoke fights in order to rule. Creating hatred and inciting people to fight is one big reason for the country’s destruction.” He added that citizens must guard against such notions. “We must not fall into the trap but rise above such ideas,” he said.
