Tragic accident claims lives of young bride-to-be and her father

Bengaluru

In a heart-wrenching tragedy, a young woman who was soon to be married lost her life along with her father in a horrific road accident near Sumanahalli Junction on Monday. The victims have been identified as Jennifer and her father Yeshu, residents of Chikkagollarahalli. According to police sources, the accident involved a truck, a car and an autorickshaw. The truck rammed into the auto with tremendous force, causing the deaths of Jennifer and her father, who was driving the vehicle. Family members revealed that Jennifer’s marriage had been fixed for next month.

On the day of the accident, her father was taking her to a church in the Cantonment area for pre-marriage prayers. Their journey ended in tragedy when the truck struck their autorickshaw at high speed. Relatives gathered at Victoria Hospital, where the bodies were shifted for post-mortem, were inconsolable. Harry, a relative, said through tears: “Jennifer’s wedding was set. She was supposed to attend classes under the Bishop to receive her certificate.  Yeshu worked hard as an autorickshaw driver to support the family.

They have two daughters, and now their elder daughter is gone.” Eyewitnesses described the accident as gruesome, with the autorickshaw crushed under the truck’s impact. Police confirmed that Yeshu died on the spot, while Jennifer, though rushed to hospital with severe injuries, succumbed shortly after. The incident has reignited concerns over reckless driving by heavy vehicles in Bengaluru’s congested junctions. Sumanahalli, in particular, has been a hotspot for major accidents, with locals repeatedly demanding stricter monitoring and speed regulation. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation. The truck driver has reportedly been taken into custody, and an in-depth probe is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
