
Udupi set for Paryaya Mahothsava

Mangaluru: Udupi is all set for the famed ‘Paryaya Mahothsava’ on January 18. This time the biennial transfer of the rights of worship from one matha to the other among the Ashta Mathas is being celebrated amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Preparations for the ‘Paryaya Mahothsava’ began about two months back and the final preparations were witnessed in Sri Krishna Matha and Sri Krishnapura Matha on Sunday.
Civic workers of Udupi city municipal council conducted the cleaning and sanitization work at the bus stands, on the streets and the toilets in the city. The civic workers also cleaned the Car Street area on Sunday. Mobile toilets were kept at six places in the city for the convenience of devotees visiting Udupi on two days. SP Vishnuvardhan requested devotees to remain at home and watch the proceedings on local TV to avoid rush in the city as the COVID risk looms large.
Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Swamiji of Sri Krishnapura Matha, Udupi will ascend the ‘Sarvajna Peeta’ on January 18, 2022. He will have the privilege of worshiping ‘Lord Krishna’ in Sri Krishna Matha, Udupi for two years.
